About SJSNetworking.com

Why did I make this site?

This website is for every student that's tired of getting ripped off every year by the school bookstore. Every year I would buy a textbook for 150 bucks and then when I sold it back to the bookstore at the end of the year (in practically new condition) they would give me like 2 bucks back.

This site is also about helping kids get through college. Most students have also noticed that having old notes, exams and quizes from previous semesters helps a lot when studying for an upcoming test. When I went to school at SJSU, I noticed that some students had a someone else's old notes, quizes and exams from a previous semester. Stuff like this helped them a lot in preparing for the class. I also came across days when I missed a class, and I needed to review the notes taken for that day to make sure I wasn't falling behind. At that time, if I didn't know anyone from the class I was pretty much screwed. I wished there was a place to get notes from a class I missed. A site like this would help both students entering a class and students who had just completed the class who no longer needed their material. Why throw out 3 months of notes, homework, quizes, and exams when you can help someone else out?

I also thought about the other things I needed during college besides books and class material. Why not also create a place for students to buy, sell, and trade personal items such as: furniture, electronics, tickets, and bikes? This way SJSU students can network with each other and sell things without having to worry about shipping or getting ripped off on ebay.

SJSNetworking.com was founded in in San Jose, CA in August 2007.

Goals

My goal was to create a FREE anonymous, online student to student marketplace where students can post ads for all of the materials they wish to sell and search for all of the materials they need to buy. I wanted to make something easy and safe to use. That's why I decided to use an account system so that your e-mail address is not posted on the website and kept private.

Ways to Use

Post Items: Users can register and post free ads for their books, school or non school materials. Easy searching: users can search for an item by department and course, or by any keyword.

Transactions:If you find something you want, you can send an email offer directly to the owner of the item through the site without knowing his/her email or identity. From there, the students can arrange to meet on campus or anywhere convenient to make the exchange.
